There is a certain logic to the overstuffed hair routine: if conditioner makes the ends softer, surely conditioner plus a mask plus a leave-in must be even better. Sometimes the result is simply more product than your hair wants.
A mask is most useful when it has a clear job. Think of it as an occasional substitution, not a new obligation.
Start with your usual wash
Shampoo the scalp and roots as normal. Squeeze excess water out of the lengths. If your everyday conditioner is already giving you the detangling and softness you want, you can keep using it. A mask does not have to appear every Sunday to make a routine legitimate.
When a richer treatment makes sense
Perhaps the ends have started to feel rough, the usual conditioner is not enough, or your lengths need more help after a demanding styling week. That is when a richer rinse-out product may be worth trying.
Deep Repair Mask combines conditioning ingredients with hydrolyzed keratin, hydrolyzed wheat protein, oils and shea butter. Apply to damp mid-lengths and ends, avoid the roots, leave for five to ten minutes and rinse thoroughly. Use it instead of Soft Conditioner on that wash.
More time is not always better
Follow the directions on the actual product. Leaving a five-to-ten-minute rinse-out mask overnight does not turn it into a better treatment. It simply changes the exposure and experience beyond what the instructions call for.
Can a mask repair split ends?
Conditioning products can improve the feel and appearance of damaged lengths, including smoothing and manageability. They cannot permanently rejoin a split hair fiber. If an end is physically split, trimming is the lasting way to remove that split; good care can help the remaining lengths feel better.
What if a mask makes hair stiff or coated?
That feedback matters more than a fashionable explanation about “protein overload.” Try less product, use it less frequently, rinse thoroughly or return to your regular conditioner. Different hair and different formulas behave differently; there is no reason to force a rich product into a routine that already works.
Read the ingredient and suitability information
Deep Repair Mask contains sweet almond oil, hydrolyzed wheat protein, fragrance and sheep-wool-derived keratin, so it is not vegan. Check the full INCI and suitability notes before using it if you have relevant sensitivities.
